The French coach arrived at noon under bright sunshine on Thursday 26th May. The welcome reception with exchange of gifts to mark the 25th anniversary of the twinning took place in the Physic Garden. A buffet with drinks and music followed.
On Friday in the evening there was a reception for the opening of Jo Lefeuvre’s photographic exhibition on Venice in the Old Hall and at 7pm over 80 people crowded into the Market Theatre to watch a play written by Peter SLB, the Rabbit and the Flower to celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Twinning and 50th of the Magic Roundabout . There was also a delicious finger buffet and drinks.
On Saturday all but two of the French visitors and some of their hosts went on a coach tour of Pembrokeshire . They'll be telling the story of the coach getting stuck under a bridge for years to come. The Cowbridge people marvelling at the ability of the driver who inched his way through, getting off evey time he made a little progress to check the next move; the Clissonnais amazed at the patience of the car drivers stuck in queues of traffic for over 15 minutes while the coach was trying to get under the bridge. The weather carried on being warm and sunny and the excursion was a success.
On Sunday, all visited the Food and drink festival. In the evening we had our farewell dinner followed by dancing to the Gypsy Jazz. |
